Shoutoku is extremely proud of its 370 year sake brewing history.
Founded in 1645 in Kyoto city, (Japan鐃緒申s original capital between 794 – 1868) the brewery was then transferred to the Fushimi district just south of Kyoto in 1925 to take advantage of the superior water of the area.
Fushimi is a renowned sake making district famous for its underground spring and the water it provides known as 鐃緒申Fushimizu鐃緒申.
Under our slogan 鐃緒申To make authentic and pure (Junmai) sake we only use rice, koji and water鐃緒申, keeping to these principles Shoutoku brewery develops sake with an everlasting and memorable taste.
Shoutoku is a sophisticated hand crafted sake, brewed according to the traditional methods of the 鐃緒申Junmai鐃緒申 classification. We adhere to the process that stipulates sake must be only made from 100% Japanese rice, pure water and the traditional sake brewing methods of Japan.
This regulation strictly prohibits the use of any additives such as other forms of alcohol and sugar.
